Around Virat
With the Monts de Blond so close, there is plenty to do around the gîtes: walking, cycling, swimming and visiting the villages of the Limousin.
The Monts de Blond
A protected natural area some ten kilometres long, ideal for walking. The hills are dotted with standing stones and dolmens with evocative names, such as the Pierre Branlante (the rocking stone) or the Roche aux Fées shelter, and steeped in mysterious legends.
Mortemart
Listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, the town of the Dukes has kept its castle keep, its Carmelite and Augustinian convents and its old covered market. Golf course nearby.
Oradour-sur-Glane
The preserved martyred village and its Centre de la Mémoire, 22 km from Limoges, to understand the tragedy of 10 June 1944.
Lakes and swimming
Several lakes with facilities nearby, including Lake Saint-Pardoux, for swimming and water sports.
Cycling, mountain biking and Terra Aventura
Quiet roads, mountain bike trails and Terra Aventura geocaching trails to explore as a family.
Limoges
Half an hour away: the city of porcelain and enamel, with its museums and historic centre.
